Montana Mayors Academy
The Montana Mayors Academy is a biennial education program co-hosted by the Montana Municipal Interlocal Authority and the Local Government Center. The Academy is designed to assist mayors of varying levels of experience. Newly elected mayors can expect to gain a basic understanding of some of the operational elements they face while experienced mayors will find opportunities to increase their expertise. The Academy consists of a series of interactive sessions and lectures on topics central to the office of the mayor. This year's training includes sessions on:
- Economic Realities, Strategies and Development
- Budgeting and Financial Management
- Progressive Discipline
- How to Run an Effective Meeting
- FMLA and Employee Benefits
- Public Safety - Contracts for Law Enforcement and Police Departments
- Boards and Board Liability
- Understanding Personality Differences in the Workplace
