U.S. Senate Committee on Finance The Majority office of the U.S. Senate Finance Committee, Chaired by Montana's senior U.S. Senator Max Baucus, is currently seeking internship applicants for spring and summer semesters in 2012. The Committee's semester-long internships for undergrads are unpaid, but depending on individual school requirements, may be completed for college credit. Interns with a bachelor's degree or higher receive a stipend. Applicants should send a cover letter, resume, writing sample (generally a school essay or article the applicant has written), transcript (unofficial is acceptable), and two references (preferably one academic and one work-related) to Jim Frisk at: jim_frisk@finance-dem.senate.gov. Deadlines are November 30th for spring, April 15th for summer, though applicants are encouraged to submit their materials as early as possible.
Governor's Office of Community Service The Governor's Office of Community Service, in partnership with the Governor's Office of Economic Development and the Department of Commerce, Energy Promotion and Development Division are excited to announce the new opportunities available in developing Montana's energy future with Governor Schweitzer.

The internship program is an academic program that enables college students to participate in energy-related work experiences as part of their academic training. The internship program allows students an opportunity to apply classroom lessons and theory to real work applications, acquire career experience, and enhance personal growth while earning a $2000.00 tuition credit.

Focus the Nation - Clean Energy Leadership Development Opportunity Focus the Nation (FTN), a national organization committed to clean energy leadership development, is recruiting students for Forums-to-Action (F2A) for the 2011-2012 academic year. The F2A program engages students on selected campuses across the nation to develop their Clean Energy Leadership skills. The program will prepare you to moderate panel discussions on campus that develop and implement dynamic solutions in your local community. By taking part in F2A you will gain leadership skills, knowledge of clean energy, and professional development.

As a F2A Focus Coordinator, you will participate in a weekly F2A curriculum, build an F2A team, plan a Clean Energy Forum, and lead an action planning process. Focus Coordinators work 4-10 hrs/week over 2 semesters and receive guidance and support from an FTN Coach and the ASMSU Sustainability Center (Campus Advisor).

Office of Communications and Public Affairs The Office of Communications and Public Affairs has a new opening for a student employee. The student in this position will play a central role in the planning and implementation of the 2011 Gallatin Earth Celebration (Earth Week). Working closely with the GEC governance committee, the student will plan and organize GEC meetings, prepare a marketing plan for GEC, plan and implement a fundraising/sponsorship campaign, coordinate communications with internal and external participants and provide follow-up analysis. The GEC Program Manager will work independently but have the guidance and direction of the governance committee. In addition, the Program Manager will assist general communications related to MSU's sustainability efforts.

Kock Charitable Foundation The Koch Internship Program is a paid internship offered in the summer, fall, and spring for young professionals who want to become effective advocates for individual liberty, free markets, and economic freedom.  Based in the Washington, DC area, the Koch Internship Program combines meaningful work, career training, and networking to help interns become excited about the ideas of liberty and economic freedom, equipped to effectively advance those ideas, and engaged in opportunities that seek liberty-advancing social change. 
ACLU of Montana The intern will work with the LGBT Advocacy Coordinator to conduct a public education camapign about relationship recognition (domestic parnership) for committed same-sex couples in Montana, and about related issues. A major focus of the project will be researching, planning and helping to facilitate a Tell 3 training for interested students. U.S. Senator Jon Tester The office of Senator Jon Tester is seeking highly motivated individuals with exceptional communication skills for our internship program. Interns do both legislative and administrative projects. The legislative duties include research pertaining to healthcare, education, judiciary, commerce, budget and tax, agriculture, energy, trade and foreign policy. The administrative roles include welcoming guests to our front office, answering constituent calls and leading U.S. Capitol tours. Interns attend hearings and prepare follow-up memos for senior staff. Our internships are unpaid, but offer invaluable Capitol Hill experience.

Public Service Fellows The Partnership for Public Service is seeking current students or recent graduates to join our team and contribute to our mission. AARP Montana The intern will assist AARP staff and volunteers throughout the 2011 legislative session. Projects will include researching issues, writing fact sheets, preparing volunteers for testimony, tracking legislation, reviewing draft legislation, setting up a lobby day for members and assisting in e-advocacy communications. Minimum educational requirements: undergraduate student interested in public policy, political science, or government. A modest stipend of $15/day is available. Must be enrolled student.
ASMSU Sustainability Center Enhance your education while contributing to a more sustainable campus by doing an independent study or internship in collaboration with the ASMSU Sustainability Center. The Sustainability Center is a student-funded program that runs the campus recycling program, plans programs and events, and helps connect students with sustainability-related efforts and activities at MSU. U.S. Department of State Intern duties and responsibilities may vary according to the post or office of assignment. For instance, interns may write reports on human rights issues, assist with trade negotiations, assist with citizen's services or visa work, help Americans in distress abroad, or organize conferences or visits of high-level officials. Others may research economic or environmental issues, write news stories, work on web pages or help produce electronic journals.

MSU Extension Personnel Interns will gain professional experience in utilizing informal education strategies by partnering with agents to plan, implement, and evaluate outreach and/or research programs for adults and youth in field offices. MSU Extension Interns work in county or reservation Extension offices under the direction of one or more Extension agents. Upon completion of an internship the student will have on understanding of the nature and responsibilities of being an MSU Extension field faculty member.

The Washington Center Summer Intern Abroad Opportunities.  As you know, many of today's students would like to take advantage of both an internship and a study abroad experience. The Washington Center offers a combination of the two with our Intern Abroad Programs in London, Oxford, and Sydney.
